What to Write in a Mother’s Day Card

May 2, 2018 by bluemountainecards

Mother's Day eCard
A World of Moms

Mother’s Day is such a special time for remembering all those wonderful women in our lives who mean so much to us. Whether they are our own moms, our mother-in-laws, grandmothers, wives, daughters, sisters, teachers or other role models, it’s a perfect time to reflect on what each has brought our way and how they have touched our lives.

Mother's Day Poem

Gifts and Greetings

Many people remember their moms and others with anything from simple to elaborate gifts for Mother’s Day, but the one thing these gifts usually have in common is that they’re accompanied by sincere and meaningful cards with heartfelt thoughts. In most cases, a truly personal card is often a beautiful gift in itself. Something to treasure. A keepsake. A reminder of a special day and all the warm and loving moments it held. It’s the thing she’ll cherish most tomorrow and the days after that.

It’s in the Details

When thinking of what to say in your message, make some mental notes of how you picture your mom now and even when you were younger. Can you think of things you’ve done together, perhaps this year or in the past (going to a spa together, shopping for new school clothes, looking for wallpaper?) What words would you associate with her (daring, smart, funny, brave, thoughtful?) Are there specific things that remind you of her (pink nail polish, wine spritzers, kuchen, “permanent” kits, bathing caps, Chantilly, ironing bed sheets, Ivory soap, white gloves, knickknacks?)

Mother's Day Postcard

What to Write…

Following are some ideas for things you can write in Mother’s Day cards for the many “moms” in your life. But it’s most important to remember that your words should sound sincere and that they came from you. As you read through these, think of how you can combine them with the ideas you thought of above to make the message your own. After all, it’s the little details in the words you choose that will bring a tear to her eye.

For Your Own Mom

  • Today I am reminded once again how truly special you are to me
  • Don’t know how you do it, Mom, but you always seem to have time for everyone
  • It’s not until we have children of our own that we realize what it really means to be a mom
  • Thanks, Mom, for the everyday things you do that make our lives so special
  • Mom, I have so many wonderful memories of growing up
  • You’ll always have a special place in my heart, Mom
  • There are so many things I have learned from you, Mom
  • Every family has its own stories, traditions and memories
  • Mom, do you know how many times I’ve thought to myself

 For All Moms

  • You make my/the world a brighter (nicer, warmer) place
  • What a joy it is remembering someone as special as you on Mother’s Day
  • You have a way of making others feel happy (comfortable, confident)
  • Today is special because you are… You’ve touched my life in a special way
  • You’re such a blessing in my life
  • For the special person you are and the loving mother you’ve become

 For Wife

  • You fill my heart with everything wonderful
  • Lucky me—having you to love!
  • You’ll always be first in my heart and in my life
  • I’d be lost without you
  • Day after day you fill my heart with happiness
  • I wouldn’t trade our lives for anything in the world… I love this journey we’re on together

 For a New Mom/Mom-to-Be

  • A new baby in your arms–a forever love in your heart
  • It’s the first of many happy Mother’s Days to come
  • Your first Mother’s Day…awwww-some!
  • Your baby’s (going to be) so lucky to have you for a mom
  • Wishing you joy as you await the arrival of your little one
  • (A new) Love is on the way

 Less Sentimental

  • Thinking of you warmly today and hoping your day is a special one
  • With a heart full of wishes for a day full of happiness
  • It’s a special day for remembering special people like you
  • Wishing you everything that will make this a perfect day for you
  • Relax, enjoy, and celebrate
  • Hope Mother’s Day is just your cup of tea…

Thanksgiving Birthday Wishes

November 22, 2017 by bluemountainecards

11192015_thanksgiving_birthday_BLG_BMA

Thanksgiving is almost here, and for everyone who celebrates a birthday on this day of gratitude, they’re most certainly guaranteed the wishbone. But when it comes to giving these Thanksgiving babies a special card for their birthday, what do you write to make them feel special and honored in the midst of such a huge holiday?

Well, we couldn’t be more grateful that all of us here at Blue Mountain get to help you share and connect in a special way with all the people you love, and we’ve got some ideas that we think will come in handy when tackling this Thanksgiving birthday wish.

Share your personal feelings of gratitude
Letting someone know you’re grateful for them is a wonderful thing to say on every birthday, but it’s an especially perfect fit for a Thanksgiving birthday.

  • So grateful you’re in my life. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving birthday.
  • I’m so thankful for you and our friendship. Wishing you a birthday as wonderful as you.
  • I’m so blessed to have you as a: (friend/mom/dad/sister/brother/partner, etc.)
  • I’m extra thankful to not only be with you for Thanksgiving, but for your birthday, too.

 Acknowledge difficult circumstances
Birthdays and holidays can be very difficult for people who have lost loved ones, a job, or are dealing with illness, and they may want to forget them altogether. Here’s how you can be that beacon of light and remind them how special they are.

  • I know this time of year isn’t easy for you, but you deserve to be loved and celebrated.
  • Praying God gives you strength on your special Thanksgiving birthday.
  • Sending you Thanksgiving prayers and a warm birthday hug.
  • It’s a blessing to have you in this world–and two special reasons to remind you of that.

 Send lighthearted, happy thoughts
If you’d like something sweet and simple, these kind messages will leave them feeling appreciated and loved.

  • Wonderful—that’s you. Grateful—that’s me!
  • Sending you a long-distance Thanksgiving birthday hug. Did you feel it?
  • Gobble up some birthday fun as you celebrate two days in one!
  • Today, you get extra helpings of fun and wishes.

Get Silly
Make them smile for miles with these fun wishes that offer up the fun and spiritedness of having a birthday paired with such a wonderful holiday.

  • Happy Bird-Day!
  • It’s your day—gobble ‘til you wobble!
  • The wishbone is all yours! Hope all your wishes come true.
  • Who’s wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving Birthday? I YAM!

What everyone wants most is to be remembered and thought of, so you can never go wrong with speaking straight from your heart. Gratitude is a simple gift to share each and every day, but especially on someone’s Thanksgiving birthday, it will be a memorable gift they’ll cherish.

What to Write in a Boss’s Day Card

October 15, 2014 by bluemountainecards

10142014_BosssDay_WTW_BLG_BMA

This Monday, October 17th is National Boss’s Day and your chance to acknowledge your boss or manager for a job well done.  Many bosses try hard to recognize the achievements of their employees and yet their own efforts often go unnoticed. So, it’s the perfect time to throw some praise their way and thank them for their support. The tricky thing is—what do you write in your Boss’s Day card?

What you write to your boss has a lot to do with the type of relationship you have with them. If you’re close with your boss, then you might find it easier to write a few lines. However, many people may be more distant from their boss or manager, so knowing how and what to say can be a bit more difficult. Here are some suggestions that will help you navigate this day in a most acceptable way.

Boss as Mentor

  • Thanks for your ability to bring out the best in me.
  • With many thanks for the encouragement you give and for the dedication you always show.
  • Thanks for always taking the time to answer my questions and lend support and guidance.
  • You’re someone who’s a true leader, and I feel lucky to be on your team.

 Close Relationship

  • It takes a special kind of person to be a great boss —and you do it all so well.
  • Thanks for your wonderful way of making people feel valued and included.
  • Hope a great manager manages to have the greatest day ever.
  • I feel so lucky to have you for a boss. Thanks for everything.

Friendly Relationship

  • Thanks for being so nice to work for.
  • Know what’s better than having a boss like you on Boss’s Day? Having a boss like you all year round!
  • Hope today is especially filled with the special kind of thoughtfulness you always bring to work.
  • Nice to know and nice to work for —you’re the best kind of boss there is.

Funny Relationship

  • Awesome BOSSome! You’re the best!
  • I listen to you all the time, but now I want you to hear something
  • I want to say…Have a Happy Boss’s Day!
  • If you think I’m going to tell you how great you are to work for…you’re absolutely right! (as usual!)
  • You’ve really got what it takes to run this office…Guts!

 Formal Relationship

  • Wishing you a very happy Boss’s Day and the best of everything always.
  • Hope your special day is filled with all the things you enjoy the most.
  • Thinking of you and hoping you have a great day.
  • With appreciation for all you do. Have a great Boss’s Day.

Feeling romantic or maybe a little frisky? You can choose our
Love You a Latte Yorkie to do some sweet talking for you. “Hi Honey.  Just sitting here having my morning coffee and remembering last night. Love you a latte!”

talk_this_just_inOur newscaster, This Just In, can deliver a fun weather report: “The snow is really coming down!  We’re expecting six inches by morning. Time to get your skis out!  Can’t wait to see you on the slopes!” or “This just in. Mary Beth had her baby at 2:30 this morning! Eight pounds of bouncing baby boy!”

Our Purrfect Friend kitty can make someone’s day: “Good Morning, Jenn!  I hope you have a wonderful day!  I’m so glad we’re friends!” Or if someone you know is going on a trip, you can send them our  Bahama Llama with a happy “Bon Voyage!” wish.

Is someone in your life going through a difficult time?  talk_hang_in_thereOur little Hang in There monkey will bring a smile: “Harry, I was so sorry to hear about your accident.  I hope you are on the mend and will be back on the golf course soon.  We all miss you.  Hang in there!

For St. Patrick’s Day, wish them a wee bit o’magic with our Pot O’Golden retriever, our Fine Irish Lassie and our St. Cat’s Day kitty. “Faith and begorrah, here’s hoping your St. Patrick’s Day is filled with fun and friends and lots of green beer!”

talk_magical_surpriseFor Easter, let them know they are somebunny special with our new Bunny Banter card. “Happy Easter, Aunt Sophie!  Can’t wait till we get the family together for Easter brunch.  Your green bean casserole is the best!  Be sure to get here early for the Easter egg hunt.  Love you!”

And, of course, we have lots of ways (and fun characters to match!) to wish someone a Happy Birthday:

Send some bovine wishes from our Holy Cow: “Holy Cow!  You’re having another birthday?!  Don’t worry—you’re still not pasture prime!”

Our Sweet Wishes talking cupcake can suggest: talk_sweet_wishes“It’s your birthday, Sally!  Time to get sprinkle-faced!”

Send Hogs and Kisses to a grandchild.: “Hello, my little Munchkin!  This little piggy is here to say, a special treat is on the way.  Hogs and kisses for your birthday!  Grandma loves you!”

talk_puppy_loveWith Talking eCards you can keep in touch, send birthday, holiday and get well wishes, invite someone over, celebrate an anniversary, graduation, engagement, special event or send one just because they’re so much fun! One happy customer shared with us that she was proposed to through a Talking eCard! (It was our Puppy Love design and she said, “Yes!”)

So where to begin? Just choose the talking ecard character you like best for the occasion, type your message in the box, pick a voice and the talking card will deliver your note to your delighted recipient. We’ve shown you a few ideas on things you can say, but here are a few helpful hints to make your message even more special:

  • Choose whether you want the card to speak in the first person (Hi! I’m your Birthday Cod) or if you just want to use it as a vehicle for your message (Sending this birthday cod cause I know how much you like fishing!)
  • Listen to your message several times before sending it. You might want to add or edit. Always click Save and Preview after each change or edit.
  • If you’re not going to send your card right away but want to keep the message you’ve started, it’s a good idea to copy and paste it to a Word doc, as once you move out of the card (without sending it), your message will not be saved.
  • Play around with the spelling and spacing between words/syllables to have your message delivered just the way you’d like it.
  • If you type your message phonetically, you can even have the talking card speak a foreign language!

And now a word from our Talking eCod…

codfish_2

Here’s what we typed and how we typed it.  We chose “Nigel” for the speaking voice.  Click here or on the photo at left to listen to the delivered message.
Ahoy there, blue mountain friends!  I am so proud to have this special oppor TUNA tee to speak to you!   Just wanted to let you know it’s official!   I am one of the most popular talking  e cards of all.   Holy Mackeral!    I’ll send birthday fishes to anyone you like and they’ll fall for me hook…line…and sinker!  It’s FIN-tastic, don’t you think?  Remember, in cod we trust! Have a great day now!

“WHAT TO WRITE…” Offering Words of Encouragement

February 25, 2013 by bluemountainecards

encouragement2 2.25.13

Offering Words of Encouragement, Cheer, Support and Sympathy

There are those moments in life when we could all use a little encouragement, a kind word, a gentle wish, a hearfelt prayer. They’re the little things that inspire us to believe in ourselves or help us through a difficult time.

While words can’t actually change the circumstances that surround us, they can help us deal with our emotions and even feel more hopeful or confident, especially when the words are coming from someone who truly cares about us. In this sense, their support and encouragement tend to validate our feelings.

At the same time, the rewards are just as great when we are on the giving end…it feels just  as good to offer a helping hand, or a shoulder to lean on as it does to be on the receiving end of a caring gesture.

With that in mind, we’d like to offer some suggestions for letting others know how you feel and that you care. And although this series is meant to help you know “What to Write…” it may just as easily help you know “what to say…”

I’ll always be here for you.
You’re someone I care about…

You truly are a beautiful person…I hope you know that.
Don’t give up now…I know you can do this.
You’re special and you deserve the best.
I care about you more than words can say.
Believe in yourself. I know I believe in you.
I believe in you and your dreams.
I thought about you today…I care about you always.
You are in every thought and prayer that fills my heart today.
I can’t guarantee you an easy journey, but I promise
I’ll be there with you every step of the way.
I’m here if you need me…that’s what friends are for.
If you need a kind word or warm wish, I have many to give.
Good times. Bad times. Anytime…
Just me…thinking of you…especially now.
Wishing you faith to light your way until all is well again.

For Sympathy Situations:

I’m here to listen, to hold your hand or to just be by your side…whatever you need.
Grieving takes time and tears…and friends. I’m here for you.
Sincerest sympathy…from a friend who shares your sorrow.

Lighter/Whimsical directions:

Would a hug help?  or  Looks like someone could use a hug…
Wish I could wish your troubles away.
If you need me, just whistle…I’ll be there before you can unpucker!
Life takes some crazy turns…maybe I can help steer you through it all.
When the going gets tough, you can always come over and hide out with me!
Friendship therapy…no appointment necessary!
Chicken Soup? Hug? Teddy Bear? Chocolate? Just name it!
Sometimes life just sucks. Stay strong.

Please visit bluemountain.com to see the above Encouragement ecard and a large selection of other Encouragement, Get Well and Sympathy cards to which you can add your own personal messages.

“WHAT TO WRITE…” Valentine Messages

January 30, 2013 by bluemountainecards

Today, we’re beginning a new series of blogs that will appear monthly. The topic?

What to Write…

And this month’s subject is What to Write in a Valentine. But before we get to that specifically, we wanted to introduce some thoughts that will work for just about any occasion or life event…from the happiest, to the most formal, to even those that are touched by sadness.

Although there are many ways to express your thoughts and wishes, sending a personal note in your own words somehow means more–no matter what the occasion. But it’s not always easy knowing where to begin. That’s why we’re creating this blog…to help you send the perfect card that not only expresses your thoughts, but helps you stay connected to those important people in your life.

Getting Ready…

Take a few minutes to organize your thoughts and to clarify your intent. Do you want to…

  • Send a wish for a specific occasion?
  • Congratulate or compliment someone?
  • Say “thank you?”
  • Simply say, “You’re a great friend?”
Next, think of what you would like someone to say or write to you…

  • What would they say to make you feel better or happier?
  • To let you know they care?
  • To tell you they think you’re special?
Well, those are probably the very things they’d like to hear from you!

If you’re still not sure what to talk about, here are a few more ideas:

  • Think of something funny, serious, or cute that only the two of you
  • might know about.
  • Remember special memories you’ve shared together.
  • Write a short (or long!) list of words that describe this
particular person or occasion or both!

How to Begin…

It’s usually helpful to jot down a few ideas first. Reading them over will sometimes spark a new idea or help you to consider other thoughts you may have forgotten.

  • Use simple, everyday language–write it just like you would say it
and your message will sound warmer and more personal.
  • Be honest–it’s okay to admit that this is a difficult thing to do or that you’re having trouble finding the right words. After all, you’re taking the time to
express yourself and that’s a sincere gesture anyone can appreciate.
  • Keep in mind, many of the ideas and phrases we’ll be featuring in the months ahead can be used for many different occasions or situations. They can also be used in many ways–in letters, greeting cards, ecards, or notes.
Or simply add one above your signature or to an ecard for a quick personal touch!

And now to the main feature…

What to Write in a Valentine

Valentine’s Day is an opportunity to express
your loving or romantic soul! Which means you don’t have to just have a significant other to shower with hearts and flowers. Think about all the people around you who bring joy to your life. This is the day to send a little extra love their way, too.

If your valentine is going to a sweetheart, spouse or partner, remind them that life wouldn’t be the same without them. Be real, be authentic, be sweet, be loving. Go for the big words…after all, this is the person who keeps your blood pumping!

  • You’re the best part of my life.
  • You fill my heart with everything wonderful.
  • There’ll never be another you!
  • I’d be lost with you.
  • Loving you just comes naturally.
  • Lucky me–having you to love!
  • You’ll always be first in my life and in my heart.
  • You’re the smile at the end of my day.
  • I love you more than life itself!
  • You make my world a better place to be.

If your valentine is going to a friend, a family member, or perhaps your kids, then try a compliment. Let them know they mean the world to you.

  • You’re the best!
  • You rock!
  • You make me smile.
  • You amaze me!
  • I love you a bunch!
  • I love the way you smile (or sing, laugh, cook, dance…)
  • Everyone needs a friend (or sister, special kid, mom…) like you!
  • Your friendship (or smile, happiness…) means the world to me.
  • You’ve touched my life in a special way.
  • You make my world a better place to be. (Some thoughts work for
    more than one situation!)

Be funny if your relationship is new or one where cracking jokes makes you both laugh.
Be sweet if it’s your mom or your little brother. And it’s okay to simply send a “Happy Valentine’s Day to Someone Special” wish. After all, what your gesture is really saying is how much you care about and value the person you’re sending your card to.

So now that you’re in the mood to write, check your thesaurus for more adoring, caring, sultry, sweet, or funny words about love and send them on to the people in your life today. It’s sure to bring on a smile or maybe even a hugfest. Happy Valentine’s Day!
