Summer Drink Recipe

June 5, 2018 by bluemountainecards

Tropical-Frozen-Sangria-4b1

There must be a rule somewhere that states when summertime is here, delicious, colorful drinks must be had, and we don’t mind that rule one bit. When summer cocktails came to mind, a few of us immediately thought of sangria—with its red and white varieties that include endless fruit combinations, there’s simply no reason not to enjoy it all summer long.

However, we were surprised to discover that there was one type of sangria that we’ve never even considered before—frozen! Naturally, when we found this happy delight from lemon tree dwelling, we couldn’t hold back from sharing it with you. So, without further ado, please print and enjoy this free recipe card for Tropical Frozen Sangria, and come along with us to savor the flavors of summer!

Spring Birthday Wishes

March 18, 2018 by bluemountainecards

Springtime is a beautiful time…for welcoming warmer weather, enjoying happy occasions (like St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring, Easter, and Passover), and celebrating the special spring birthdays of people you love.

Choosing a birthday eCard for a spring baby is usually pretty easy. Your choices are full of beautiful flowers, birds, butterflies, and sunshine. If there’s music, it’s light and upbeat. And the sentiments are always so sweet and cheerful.

But before you rush to send your card as is, remember one thing: It’s always more meaningful to also add a short message of your own. This shows the recipient that you’ve taken the time to reflect on your relationship and want to share some personalized thoughts that will really make their day.

To help you get started, here are some suggestions from the editors at Blue Mountain. Use them as is, or come up with a variation all your own. Either way, your personal spring birthday wishes are sure to make someone very, very happy.

  • Just like spring itself, hope your birthday is extra cheerful, warm, and sunny!
  • Flowers are blooming. Birds are chirping. Spring is finally here—and so is your birthday. Have a beautiful day!
  • I hope your birthday is extra sunny and bright! Have an awesome day.
  • Sending happy springtime birthday wishes your way!
  • May this birthday bring you much joy, happiness, and sunshine!
  • Spring has sprung…and so has your birthday! Have a great one, dear friend.
  • Wishing you a birthday that’s as blooming bright as the season!
  • Sending you kind birthday wishes for a day that’s as beautiful as spring itself.
  • I hope your special day is filled with lots of sunshine, laughter, and love. Happy Birthday!
  • May your special day be sprinkled with all the beauty of the season. Happy Birthday!

Back-to-School Ideas

August 22, 2016 by bluemountainecards

Summer is slowly coming to an end. Fall is just around the corner. And school is about to begin any day now. What an emotional time for everyone—kids, parents, and grandparents!

You have to admit, the start of a new school year conjures up many memories for us. Remember getting all those brand new school supplies (especially that cool big-kid box of 64 crayons with a built-in sharpener)? Those spiffy new school shoes? Maybe even a new outfit? Remember going to bed the night before the big day, all nervous, anxious, and excited at the same time? And remember not being able to sleep while checking your alarm clock every half hour?

3. Free Printable First-Day-of-School Signs via Remodelaholic
4. Confetti Pencils via Make and Tell
5. Restoration Hardware Inspired Desk Organizer via Addicted 2 DIY
6. Free Printable Watercolor Notebook Covers via Eighteen25

Well, today’s kids are no different. They’re probably a little sad that summer’s over. They’re probably scared of what to expect, from classmates to classroom to teacher. And they’re probably as ready as they’ll ever be to face a new year of challenges,  growth, and rewards.

Help make  your child’s or grandchild’s adventure a little less stressful—and a lot more fun! Start by getting organized. This handy back-to-school checklist is divided by grade and should be a big help. Then send a cheerful card to get them in the right frame of mind and let them know you care.

We’ve also come up with some other creative ways to add more fun. For instance, make a cute bookmark using your child’s own photo. Spiff up some pencils to make them appear more festive. Cover notebooks with colorful inspirational quotes. Make an easy desk organizer. Get fresh ideas for a variety of healthy-yet-delicious lunches. Or print a sign for that adorable “first-day-of-school” photo in front of your house. You’re the one making happy memories now!

Spring Cleaning the Soul

March 29, 2016 by bluemountainecards

03302016_Spring_Cleaning_Printable_BLG_BMA

If light is in your heart,
You will find your way home.
– Rumi –

With a hint of warmth in the air and the first glimpses of green buds peeking through the dirt, we instinctively want to embrace spring and throw open the windows and begin freshening our homes and tidying up. But before you grab that dust rag, take a second to consider giving your soul the refreshing cleanse it needs first.

After burrowing ourselves indoors during the long winter, spring is ideal for a good self-assessment on how we’re doing physically and emotionally. What built up inside you over those winter months and what stayed with you that needs to go? It’s time to clear the clutter out of our heads and hearts to make room for the light to shine in.

To help you begin, here are 5 ways to spring-clean your beautiful soul:

Throw out mental and emotional clutter.
I am letting go of…This is the mantra to repeat to yourself daily. Have you doubted yourself too much in the past year? Or held onto anger you feel towards someone or something? Maybe you’ve let the hurt in your heart steal your joy for too long. It’s time to free yourself from the hold these feelings have over you. You don’t need them anymore, and soon you’ll feel lighter physically and emotionally.

Wipe away frustrations.
Annoyed by a long checkout line? Rude customer service person on the phone? Don’t let your spirit be muddied by these irritations. Tell yourself to ‘rise above’ and make a conscious decision to not get pulled into the negative vortex. Take a calm breath and give yourself a few seconds to “wipe away” that frustrated feeling so your energy can be focused on more positive and fulfilling things that really matter to you.

Air out your dreams.
Spring is all about renewal and rebirth. If ever there was a time to resurrect your wishes and passions for the things you’d like to try (or try again), or places you’d always dreamt about seeing, now’s the time to breathe new life into them. Nothing is too big or too small—maybe it’s a hobby like painting or learning how to play an instrument, maybe you’ve always wanted to adopt a pet, or perhaps you’ll decide this is the year to get another stamp in that passport—or to GET a passport. Give yourself permission to play and embrace the excitement of stretching your wings.

Polish your relationships.
Winter often makes us hibernate inside our homes and inside ourselves. We maybe don’t get together as often with friends or family members due to shorter days and frosty weather, and the next thing you know the weeks pile up like snow and we find that we haven’t talked to some of our favorite people for way too long. Now is the perfect time to bring out the shine in your heart and theirs by reconnecting with the people who matter most to you. Make that long overdue phone call, write the thoughtful note, and see how your simple kindnesses will make your relationships bloom.

Give yourself grace.
There’s a wonderful quote that says, “God doesn’t use a microwave, He uses a crockpot.” Your spirit is the same way — nurture it, have patience, and let it flourish in the time it needs. And soon, just like the bird every spring, you’ll hear its sweet song.

Letter from the Editor – Getting Ready for October!

October 1, 2014 by bluemountainecards

10012014_Caroline_Gatsby_BLG_BMA

With the autumnal equinox on September 22nd, when day and night were of equal length, we welcomed fall and life started all over again.  Now that October is here, our gardens are bright with dahlias, camellias, echinacea, and chrysanthemums. Our recipes will be starring pumpkins, squash, apples, berries, seeds and nuts. We’re wearing our sweaters and plaid flannel, enjoying pumpkin spice lattes and farmers markets and cheering on our favorite football teams.

The days are getting shorter and the sun is lower in the sky. Nighttime is heralded by spectacular sunsets and the stars have never shone brighter. Mornings are dawning with a spectral mist hanging over the fields. As we watch all the beautiful changes taking place in nature, we are reminded that the only constant is change. We may feel a little nostalgic for autumns gone by and the people who mean so much to us. Here at Blue Mountain we have cards to honor those significant relationships and celebrate all the fun holidays in October.

Because we like autumn so much, we created a card to wish everyone a Happy Falloween. You’ll find a new postcard for Columbus Day and new eCards for Boss’s Day and Sweetest Day.  When you visit our Halloween collection, you’ll discover some extra special treats—eCards with music you’re sure to recognize, including the themes from the Andy Griffith Show and Bewitched. What better time to let your friends and family know you are thinking of them? And no matter how busy you get, remember to make some time for yourself to pause and watch the leaves turning.

Autumn Traditions

September 24, 2014 by bluemountainecards

Glorious fall has arrived! This season is a favorite for many who can’t wave good-bye         to the hazy days of summer fast enough as they look forward to the cool crisp air, falling leaves, and smell of wood smoke. And with that anticipation is a myriad of traditions full of nature, fun, and food that touches everyone with a bit of warmth and nostalgia.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

pumpkinsDo you remember riding in the station wagon to a pumpkin patch in the country? There’s nothing that gets you right into the spirit of all things fall than being on a farm with pumpkins, animals, flowers, and homemade apple cider. Gather friends or family together for a sunny afternoon.

Get Lost in A Corn Maze

A trip to farm or pumpkin patch isn’t complete without an attempt at making it through the corn maze, and these days farmers set up some pretty newsworthy designscornmaze that bring together the old and young alike for quite a challenging try. Who will be the first one through this year? Find one in your area here.

caramelapplepumpkinMake a Fall Recipe

When it comes to food, fall means pumpkin, pumpkin,    pumpkin! Pumpkin pies, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin lattes, and just about anything else you can imagine.  But another fun staple not to be overlooked is the beloved caramel apple. This year when you visit the pumpkin farm or orchard, bring home a bushel of apples and try this fun twist on caramel apples which was featured on the The Dating Divas as a guest post from Michelle, of A Little Tipsy. This super fun dessert gives BOTH apple and pumpkin their tasty due!

Venture Out to See the Foliage

When Mother Nature dons her most beautiful wardrobe of the year, we can’t help but want to catch of glimpse of her in all her finery. Perhaps you’ve taken a trip up to New England, where the mountains are ablaze with color, farms ooze fresh maple syrup, and quaint covered bridges beckon travelers to cross over. At any given moment in the country, friends and families are taking road trips, day trips, and walks through parks to drink   in the most spectacular display of the year.

Get In the Spirit with Fall Décor

Who can resist adding a bit of fall happiness throughout falldecorthe home with berry branches, pumpkins, and potted mums on the porch to greet guests? Even the simplest touches can bring a warm and happy feel to any room.   So, when you’re out on those walks or visiting the pumpkin farms, gather a bunch of colorful leaves and small pumpkins and gourds and invite fall indoors.
