On June 21st, the longest day of the year, we welcome the first day of summer. It’s that magic moment when the earth’s North Pole tilts directly toward the sun and we celebrate the summer solstice. Remember our childhood summers, when it seemed like there was all the time in the world? We never thought of growing older, never looked in a mirror, but old photos show us in fits of giggles with tangled beach hair and happy, tanned faces. Those were carefree days filled with endless possibilities– riding bikes, reading through the summer book list, climbing trees, making wishes on dandelion puffs. There were mourning doves and lucky lady bugs and picnics and the scent of honeysuckle and sudden downpours followed by rainbows .On beach days, there was volleyball and wave jumping and swimming all day, always on jellyfish alert. Then we’d head home in happy exhaustion, with sand in our bathing suits and salt in our hair. Our tans may fade, but summer memories last forever.
Another great thing happens on June 21st—we celebrate Father’s Day. Here at Blue Mountain we’ve created three wonderful new cards to honor Dads. Who doesn’t love dogs playing poker? In our version, the dogs sing a funny song about Dads. If you’re a Daddy’s girl, we’ve made a lovely heartfelt card to express your feelings. And for the sportsman Dad, we have painted a beautiful, interactive fishing scene that turns into a puzzle Dad can put together.
Every summer has a story. Let’s make this a summer to remember. We also wanted to offer our friends and fans a beautiful Summer-inspired download for your desktop background, your phone background, or even your Facebook cover image.
