It’s February in a Leap Year! If you’re deep in the doldrums of winter, what a great time to take a leap and try something new. February 29th is Leap Day, which only happens every 4 years. Here at Blue Mountain we’ve created a special birthday card just for the “leaplings” who had a 1 in 1,461 chance of being born on that day. So it’s a perfect day to take a chance on a new relationship, a new venture, or a new pasttime. Get out your seed catalogs and plan a new garden. Pick a new hairstyle for spring. Go on an impromtu winter escape. It’s time to shake it up.
February kicks off with Groundhog Day on the 2nd. Maybe our furry weatherman won’t see his shadow and we can expect an early spring. Chinese New Year celebrations begin on the 9th for the Year of the Monkey, which according to the Chinese Zodiac, is an unpredictable year when anything can happen. On that same day is Mardi Gras, which is aptly named, because in French it means “Fat Tuesday,” a day to eat, drink and be merry before fasting for the Lenten season.
With Valentine’s Day at its center, February is certainly a month of love. If you are in a new relationship, or in a lasting one, we have new Valentines to celebrate that love.
As Shakespeare wrote: “They do not love that do not show their love.” Be sure you’re loved ones know how special they are to you, on Valentine’s Day and every day.
Happy February!
