   1. MAZAO - Fruits, nuts and vegetables, symbolizing work and a successful harvest. 2. MKEKA - Place Mat, made from straw or cloth. Symbolizing the the historical and traditional foundation that we stand on. 3. MUHINDI - Ears of Corn, representing fertility. Each ear represents one child in the family. 4. MISHUMAA SABA - The Seven Candles, which represent the sun's power. Each candle symbolizes one of the 7 principles of Kwanzaa. 5. KINARA - Candleholder, represents our ancestry. 6. KIKOMBE CHA UMOJA - Communal Cup of Unity, used to perform the libation ritual during the Karama feast. 7. ZAWADI - Gifts, to encourage achievement and reward accomplishment.
