History of the April Fool:
In the sixteenth century, France switched over to the Gregorian calendar. Back in those days people couldn't send friends and family eCards to let them know when holidays were coming up. Consequently, many people still followed the old calendar, which stated that the New Year began on April first. These people were called Poisson d'Avril or April Fish.
Sound fishy? Well it's true! No foolin!
