Race for the Cure

Blue Mountain staff, along with 20,000 fellow Ohioans hit the streets of downtown Cleveland to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. The 2006 race marked the first time, the Northeast Ohio Komen affiliate raised more than $1 million. Due to the great turnout and fundraising, thousands of women across Northeast OH will have better access to breast cancer prevention, education, and treatment programs. Up to seventy-five percent of the money raised locally funds programs in Northeast Ohio, and the remaining 25 percent helps fund the Susan G. Komen for the CureŽ National Research Grant Program, whose vision is to create a world without breast cancer.

The 2006 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was the maiden event for Blue Mountain Cares. The Blue Mountain team wore specially designed 'BlueMountain goes Pink shirts' along with many other layers to combat the cold weather and a hail storm and finished the 5K race along with thousands of people who walked and raised money for this great cause.
