Memories with Dad

As Father’s Day quickly approaches, we’d love to pause for a moment to recount all the meaningful moments we’ve shared with that very special man (or men) in our life. After all, a dad is fun, love, and laughter you never outgrow.

Whether learning to ride a bike or learning to drive a car…whether playing house or playing pool…whether laughing or crying, Dad’s always been there for you. With moments in time that are both vivid and treasured, we are truly blessed to associate such great times with Dad—from childhood all the way through to adulthood.

In order to celebrate that loving bond that’s so precious and unique, Blue Mountain offers many delightfully beautiful Father’s Day eCards. Blue Mountain also offers a great selection of printable Father’s Day cards.

And in order to share those memories we hold so dear, we’ve decided to reach out to our Blue Mountain family and see what personal “dad memories” they remember best—whether reminiscing of old ones or creating new ones. And here’s what they had to say:

DANIELLE KROUSE, Social Media Manager
Danielle and dad
“I can’t help but smile when I look at this picture. The father/daughter dance was something I was really looking forward to on my wedding day. My dad and I talked through the whole dance and told stories of the two of us that made us laugh. I’m so happy that special moment of happiness was captured!”

NOHA YOUSSEF, Assistant Brand Manager
Noha and dad
“This photo of my dad and me was taken a few years back when we went on a little family getaway to Put-In-Bay, Ohio. My dad loves the outdoors and has a real appreciation for nature, so this was a great escape for all of us to spend some quality time together. He’s an amazing man, and I love him very much.”

MARIA ISABELLA, Content Marketing Editor
Shawn and Avery 2
“Even though my son-in-law is an Academy Award-winning screenwriter, he says the birth of his son is unquestionably his greatest accomplishment in life. He adores Avery and steals every moment he can to admire his sweet little face.”
Joe and Avery

“My husband also loves holding Avery, who everyone says looks a lot like him. He tells his grandson about all the many adventures they’re going to have together once he gets older. Watch out, world!”

CAROLYN ANTL, Designer/Content Coordinator
carolyn and dad
“I appreciate my dad very much. As a single dad in the eighties, he raised both my sister and me on his own. He took us with him everywhere he went, and we enjoyed many experiences together. Whether it was folding laundry, cooking, fishing, or skiing, he made time to be with us and raised us to be smart and strong. I feel so lucky to have such a loving father, and I treasure every moment I have with him. This is a picture of us when I was visiting him in South Carolina.”

Caroline Leech dad photo
“This is my son, David, with his father, also David. From the very start, they’ve been two peas in a pod. David is 21 now, and I’m happy to say they are still as connected as ever.”

What to Write in a Father’s Day Card

Fathers Day is the one day a year solely dedicated to all the dads in your life. It’s the day we take a moment to reflect on the significant impact they’ve had on our lives—and how they continue to inspire us in their own special ways. It’s also the day we celebrate creating new memories with these influential fathers and father figures, whether a cherished dad, grandpa, father-in-law, uncle, godfather, or mentor.

A Father’s Day gift is not nearly as important as letting him know how much you care. This can be accomplished either through voice or pen. If penning a message, let it come straight and simply from the heart.

Many of us might struggle to come up with just the right words and sentiments to express our thoughts and emotions. We’re here to help you with that.

When writing a note, a letter, or just some additional thoughts to a Father Day ecard, it’s best to make it short, personal, and sincere. What’s one special moment you’ve shared together? Famous Fathers

“A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty.”

—Author Unknown

Fathers are the foundation of our lives, the cornerstones of our character, and the mentors who nurture our dreams, transforming them into reality.

Countless fathers and father-figures have shaped the course of history.  Some have pioneered paths, others have touched our hearts sharing from their own lives, and still others have left a legacy that many of us treasure, long after they’re gone.

Here are some examples of famous fathers, past and present:

  • George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, John Adams, John Jay—“Founding Fathers” of theUnited States
  •  John Muir—“Father of theUnited StatesNational ParkService”
  •  A.A. Milne—author of the Winnie-the-Pooh book series, who based the character of Christopher Robin on his own son.
  • Atticus Finch (To Kill a Mockingbird) . He is a lawyer and a single father raising his two children – Scout and Jem. He is the very ideal of courageous, kind, respectable and moral. His shining quality is evident in the advice he gives his daughter “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view, until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it”.
  • Fred MacMurray (Steve Douglas, “My Three Sons”), Hugh Beaumont (Ward Cleaver, “Leave It To Beaver”), Bill Cosby (Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable, “The Cosby Show”)—famous television dads we welcomed into our homes every week.
  • Mufasa (Lion King). He is not only a good King, but a great father to his son, Simba. He teaches Simba to be fair, patient and respectful to other animals.
  • John Adams and George H. W. Bush—two U.S.Presidents whose sons followed in their fathers’ famous presidential footsteps (John Quincy Adams and George W. Bush, respectively)

As we spend some special time with our fathers this Father’s Day, let us remember and celebrate those whose paternal contributions left an inspiring impression to be cherished forever.

“He carried us in his arms.  We carry him in our hearts.”

Dad’s Resumé

by George Davis

Born a baby like me,
but grew into a man.
Became a planter –
sowing life into the Earth,
carefully pruning and
providing the perfect balance
of love and care to ensure
a fruitful harvest.

With no formal instruction,
Dad became the world’s greatest Project Manager –
turning sugar-stained popsicle sticks
into log cabins for a full family of toothpicks.

An engineer –
he turned bunk beds into double decker buses,
that carried us to anywhere in the Universe.
It even came equipped with a custom horn
(that looked just like the pillows we slept on)
that we used to alert the natives when we arrived.

A trained physician –
Dr. Dad had the remedy
for everything!
He cured boredom,
stomach aches,
and runny noses.
Even when we came down with
frequent cases of the I-don’t-wanna-go-to-school’s,
he’d find a way to get us excited.

Believe it or not,
he was even a Captain.
Not just Captain of the Household,
but also the spaceship that we
built out of cardboard.
To this day, I’m still not sure where
he got a spaceship license from –
but, hey, he’s Dad!

He’s a magician,
motivational speaker,
and monster-in-the-closet slayer.

Job(s) well done.
