Back to School …a Simple Primer!

Summer is already slipping away and it won’t be long until the school bells ring again across the land. (Was that a loud “hurray!” we heard in the background?) Ah…school! It’s a nostalgic and happy thought for parents and grandparents everywhere who are captured by the excitement of the first days of a new school year and, of course, the shopping that goes with it! It’s the chance to search out personal notebook covers and brightly colored pencils that are perfectly matched and sharpened. It’s about finding just the right backpack and a new pair of shoes. Yes, a new school year packs a lot of potential!

Get ready!  Part of getting ready for the new school calendar is about engaging in conversations with family. No matter what grade level your kids and grandkids are entering, hopes and dreams exist that can be nurtured and explored. Maybe this is
the year they’ll build new friendships, try new sports or take up a new instrument.
After all, there’s more to school than just subjects to be learned or papers to be written. School ushers in the beginning of a new future and taking part in it is the key
to new opportunity.

Get set!  So what do your students need this year?
A handy check list is probably available at your school
or neighborhood store that includes everything from three-ring binders to calculators. It might include crayons to drawing pencils, or ball point pens to hand-held computers. And soon,  their favorite notebooks (loaded with their favorite pop culture icons and characters such as Twisted Whiskers, Hello Kitty and SpongeBob Squarepants, will hold a vast fountain of knowledge—guiding their young lives in  new directions.

Go!  So start getting ready for a great new school year! With a little effort and a little time, it will help you create a future for your kids that goes beyond a dream. And it’s certain that one day they’ll look back on this time a bit wistfully, a bit nostalgically, and remember what fun, amazing moments happened simply because they went back to school! It’s going to be an incredible year…
for all of you!
